The challenge of this project was that the present flow of the house didn’t provide the space our clients wished for.
We were met with a cramped kitchen and divided spaces which were dislocated from the sunny patio.
Our proposal sought to extend and re-organise the interior completely. Giving the whole ground floor a more open feel with improved entertainment space, and a direct patio link.
‘Saudade’ has no translation in English, but is a feeling of longing or nostalgia. In this house, we added some elements unique to Portuguese culture such as the Portuguese tiles and the wooden 'cage' partition due to one of the client’s roots. Every project should be unique and bespoke to its users, as always.
